History and heritage
While our business is firmly focused on the future, we’re also immensely proud of our roots.
Kevin McCabe, the man without whom Scarborough Group International would not exist, commenced his career in the construction and property industry in the 1960’s.
Having initially cut his teeth working as a quantity surveyor in Sheffield, Kevin moved north of the border to Scotland in the early 1970’s and shortly thereafter joined Teesland Development Company Ltd, in what would later prove to be a pivotal move for the yet-to-be-established Scarborough Group International.
His first real foray into the world of business ownership came in the mid-1970’s when he set-up his first corporation, County Properties Ltd, with a £10,000 loan from the Bank of Scotland.
Kevin subsequently listed the company on the London Stock Exchange in 1980 concurrent to his formation of Scarborough Group International, so named after the Yorkshire seaside resort in which he used to holiday as a child and now lives.
Today, Scarborough Group International is a private limited company with circa 3,000 acres of land either owned or controlled and over £2bn of projects underway across the UK.
