Endeavour, the fourth and final phase of the acclaimed Sheffield Digital Campus development has reached a key milestone in its construction.
Cllr Julie Grocutt, Deputy Leader of Sheffield City Council and Co-Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, joined us alongside representatives from the wider project team to celebrate the topping out event on Thursday 23 June 2022.
Work on the eight-storey, 63,000 sq ft super-prime, state-of-the-art, grade A, office building started in June 2021 and is due to complete by January 2023, bringing to a close 15 years of development at the Digital Campus that has seen a once derelict site transformed into a thriving cluster for the creative, digital and professional services industries.
Designed by award-winning architects, Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher and delivered by principal contractor, GMI Construction Group Plc, Endeavour will provide outstanding office space capable of sub-division to accommodate a diverse range of businesses. The building features an impressive welcome lounge, as well as a private roof terrace with panoramic views across the Sheffield city skyline.
Adam Varley, Development Director at SGI, commented:
“It is incredibly rewarding and I’m immensely proud to see our fourth and final building at Sheffield Digital Campus coming to fruition, particularly as we took the decision to forge ahead with our plans to speculatively develop Endeavour amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic.
“Getting the project to where it is today has not been without its challenges however our ‘partnership’ approach to development has ensured that we have been able to continue to deliver this exemplary office building and I’m delighted to say that we’re well on track to delivering Sheffield city centre’s first post-pandemic office building early in the New Year.”
Cllr Grocutt commented:
“Firstly, I’d like to extend my congratulations to everyone involved in the project in reaching this important milestone. Transforming the vision for the whole site into what we see before us today over the past 15 years not only shows long-term commitment to the regeneration of our wonderful city but also great collaboration between the key stakeholders.
“Sheffield City Council is committed to ensuring our city not only remains an attractive place to do business but also lessens its impact on the environment. Endeavour will provide the perfect platform for both and I’m really looking forward to seeing the building envelop evolve throughout its final stages of construction over the coming months.”
The building has been funded via a joint venture agreement between ourselves and Metro Holdings of Singapore, supported by a £4m mezzanine loan from the SCR Jessica Fund alongside a £10 million Senior Loan from The South Yorkshire Pension Fund, both of which are managed by CBRE Capital Advisors.
