We have partnered with the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors (WCCS) to support a life-changing bursary scheme that will help talented students from non-traditional backgrounds to enter the property industry.
The WCCS Student Bursary Scheme is run in partnership with Pathways to Property. The aim is to create a diverse and inclusive property industry by giving financial support and guidance to students, who would like to study for a real estate degree but whose personal circumstances mean they are unable to attend university.
The Bursaries are being offered in collaboration with Pathways to Property, which manages the application process for students and is responsible for the administrative and safeguarding role throughout the students’ education.
In addition to providing financial support to cover a student’s living expenses while at university, we will offer ongoing mentoring throughout their degree as they enter the workplace.
The student that we have been paired with is studying a BA Honours degree in Urban Planning at the University of Newcastle.
Simon McCabe, Chief Executive at SGI, commented:
“As a commercial property developer, a large part of what we do involves working with planning consultants and local planning authorities as we seek to bring forward our extensive land bank.
“We specifically chose a student looking to get involved in this area because, not only do we believe this is where the greatest value is created, it will give the student a deeper insight into the entire property lifecycle.
“Above all else, we’re delighted to be able to join forces with WCCS to support a young person in forging a career in the property industry and we look forward to following their journey through university and beyond.”
Mickola Wilson, Past Master at WCCS, commented:
“Never has there been a greater need to support young disadvantaged people in securing training in a profession that could be life changing and help them overcome the problems anticipated following COVID-19 and its impact on the economy and employment.
“My colleagues at the WCCS and I greatly appreciate the very generous support of organisations like Scarborough Group International. The bursary will undoubtedly support the beneficiary in realising their ambition of becoming a Chartered Surveyor.”
